Shana Liberman, Therapist

MA, S-MFT, RBT

This fast paced life we can be overwhelming. We are going at full speed. Jobs are stressful and demanding. Keeping our mind and bodies operating at full capacity, with the additional reserve of calm needed for managing our intimate relationships and child rearing, can be challenging.

I am originally from St. Louis, but have worked on both coasts in the corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors for more than 15 years. I understand the stress of managing interpersonal conflicts with a difficult boss or co-workers, unmanageable workloads, and the ongoing demands of an ever-changing, competitive work environment. As a wife and mother, I also know how hard it is to balance work and home life.

I support individuals, couples, youth, and professionals struggling with anxiety, stress, transitions, or relationship issues. Our foundation will be person-centered therapy and together we will create a safe, non-judgemental space to talk about feelings and experiences. Cultivating a safe space allows for greater self-awareness, empathy, and resilience when navigating sensitive issues.

My philosophy is strength based, and together we will rediscover inner strengths, worthiness, as well as potential, and strategize ways to overcome obstacles and achieve a healthier work-life balance. We will also explore well-being, self-care and how to nurture ourselves when we need it most.

I offer a sliding scale of $120-$80 per session. You can contact me at  314-529-1224  to schedule a free consultation. I only accept clients in Missouri.

About Shana

Welcome!  My name is Shana and I am a wife as well as a mother to a 7 year old.

I grew up in St. Louis but when I was 13 my parents sold their house and moved out to the country, south of the city. I learned about small farm life, the joy of walking in the woods in the fall, weeding, and also to embrace possibilities.

I earned a BA in International Relations, backpacked in numerous countries, and worked on development projects. I also worked as a graphic and motion designer for many years and was ultimately able to marry my love of creativity with public service at the City of Columbia when I finally came home to Missouri.

Due to the high paced, stressful work environments in which I found myself, it became incumbant on me to nurture my friendships outside of work and get outdoors in nature as much as possible. I love paddling on the rivers and lakes in Missouri and biking along the Mississippi. Philosophically, I believe we humans are multi-faceted and therapeutically I focus on what is working already, how to capture more of that, in addition to focusing on issues and problems.

I am a trauma informed therapist. My experience as a therapist  began when I worked with addiction and trauma at the Salvation Army. I am also a Behavioral Health Technician currently working with autistic clients in the St. Louis area,  as well as an ICF Certified Life Coach.

I have practiced meditation since 2003. Practicing meditation is the process of becoming more aware of our thoughts about who we are, what we should be, and the life we should have. These are all just stories we are telling ourselves. If we can start to see the ways our thoughts slow us down, our lives start to change.

"If we can start to see the ways our thoughts slow us down, our lives will start to change."
