Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in my first session?
Think of it as a thoughtful conversation—not an interrogation. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you want to work on, and what you’d like therapy to feel like. You’re welcome to ask me anything, too.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy isn’t just for crises—it’s for growth, clarity, healing, and having someone in your corner. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burned out, stuck, or just ready for something to shift, we’ll work through it together.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
Some folks come in with a specific goal and are good to go in a few months. Others like having a space to reflect and check in longer-term. We’ll move at a pace that fits your life—not a stopwatch.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency. As progress is made, we may shift to biweekly or monthly sessions, depending on what works best for you.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law, with a few legal exceptions:
-
If there’s a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else
-
If there’s suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult
We’ll talk about this more in your first session.
What if I don’t feel like we’re a good fit?
That’s okay. A strong connection is key to effective therapy. If after a few sessions it doesn’t feel like the right match, I’m happy to refer you to another therapist who might be a better fit for your needs.
